Thinking of a Snap bash this evening,
Not very organised so was wondering what crew use as a quick Snap Snap berley brew....
Obviously Mulies mashed is a goto but i'll need a fair bit and dont need to be spending $50 to throw it over the side.....

tuna oil loaf of bread and 1 kg of mullies $7.00
is all we use crush it all together and just throw small handfulls over every so often we have only had sucess doing this in under 8m of water though
wont catch em sitting at home!

chook pellets.
Chook pellets. Cheap very effective.add oil just cover over pellets with boiling water. Makes it thick and pasty. Grab handful make into ball throw in. Slowly breaks up as it sinks. Best of all doesn't attract rays. Pinks skippy herring love it. Sometimes I add tin of cat food. Everyone has favorite , everything works.

Mewiseone.... I think you missed the not very organised going tonight aspect, i appreciate your advice though. If i had the time i'd certainly get you to go diving for me down south here in the mild 30 knott SW'er and rip me in a few crays and a heap of abs which are usually really easy to muscle into a catch bag in a 7mtr swell....
Thanks for the offer Callum but yeah i'm a few hours out of range for your good gear....
I was more thinking along the lines of cat food tins etc, if anyone has a favourite that is a proven performer?

little Johnys recipee looks the goods. when organised this same mix would work by freezing in milk bottles then cut the bottle off when using and throw in a burley bag hanging off the back then you would have a steady flow as it thaws

I use the exact same as Johnny. Chook pelletes and a can of cat food, it's as easy as that.
My opionion is people way over think burley, just need a bit of smell and they will come.

Im not a pinky guru but chook pellets, breakfast cereal/catfood/mulies/dinner leftovers and oil. Potatoes are supposed to be good as well.
Talk about over thinking berley but ive always wondered if the oil part is worth it. As oil doesnt mix with water to well wouldnt the oil just rise to the surface in globules then disperse? I add it anyway tho.

Apart from spuds never tried that one. Done the old vita Brits , bread ect many times. Oil I use is cooking oil. Nothing more. Trust me it works . Old baits you reel chop up throw in. To much burley equals rays. 99 percent of people don't like that. Cerials , bread , pellets seem to not attract them for some reason.? Who knows. Guy who sells Pilchards shredded on site , put in bag of back of boat ideal. Last minute burley look in cuboard . Everything works pick cheapest option that your happy with . :):):)

I think that over the years I have used just about all of the above concoctions and all have worked to varying degrees.
After recently trying mashed mulies from Shore catch (no I'm not a share holder or any other vested interested party)
I have got to say this stuff will pull fish into a wishing well. Perhaps I'm getting a bit fastidious in my old age but I just can't face getting my hands covered in not to pleasant stuff any more.
The thing I believe with the use of berley is use it sparingly as it is all to easy to give the fish a free feed.
Just my thoughts.

Despite everyones banana problem on a boat, mass some old banana in the burley. Proven over and over with fish. Something to do with the high Potassium content in bananas.
Herring and whiting go nuts when this is added and I have tested with or without and the "banned" mix works well above other burleys.
If nervous on a boat just try from land first - LOL.
By the way an old Mandurah local told me this on the beach after he was pulling in heaps more than us with identical rigs just a few meters apart.

All of the above but I mince up potato peel and less of the other. Found that the fish eat the pellets etc and fill up but are attracted to the scent on the potato peel but wont eat it.

Chicken oil
Find out where they rotisserie chickens in your neighbourhood and ask for the chicken oil, mixed with pollard or laying pellets you can't go wrong
