snapper sambo's and BIG snook
Took the tinny out for a bash yesterday morning and as we approached the marina, we were greeted by a nice electrical storm. Bearing this in mind we decided to stay a bit closer just incase anything flared up. Anyway hit up a spot well inside the three mile and started the berley.... soon enough the sambo's found our trail with us landing 12 or so in the 3-5kg range (all bar one released), then the pinkies came on the bite with a couple just under 45cms (released obviously) then kept a couple of the slightly bigger ones in the 50cm range. Also managed to land a massive snook which measured 80+cm and was fat as. Didnt get to weigh it unfortunately but was approx 3-4kg. Not sure how common they are at that size, I've caught plenty of snook in dunsborough while trolling for salmon before but they were only 50-60cm never seen one this big before??
filleted all three species and wacked them on the bbq and they all tasted very good, The sambo had a nice white firm flesh suprisingly
anyway here are some dodgy phone pics, sorry bout quality
