Just a heads up..
The cops are now using roadwork zones as a target for speeding. I have seen a few roadworks this week with cops armed with speed guns pulling up cars doing over 40km. Today was a classic. Was travelling down Great Eastern Hwy towards Mundaring. Theres currently roadworks there and limit is 40 km p/h. I counted 4 cops with speed cameras on both sides of the roadworks, spaced out about 200-300m from each other! A few people got done, by the looks of it. Have seen the same thing in other areas.
Just a heads up for when you drive through a roadwork zone with 40km signs....be aware!

Good to see. 40 sign is put up for a reason and the blokes working there have probably given the cops a call because of tossers speeding there. they have a right to do there job safely and go home in one piece.

I have always
Wondered if you could actually get done. What happens if they left the signs up for instance on the freeway and both 80 and 100 were displayed

If the signage meets the standards you have no case to appeal the fine

While I agree that 40kmph
While I agree that 40kmph roadworks signs are there (usually) for a reason I believe if no roadworks are happening and not a worker or works in sight (which happens all to frequently !!!) the company posting the signs should be fined BIG TIME. (cos this is certainly part of the reason some speed through these signs.)
ummmm rant over.

A lot of the time it's due to
A lot of the time it's due to the absence of line marking etc that makes it necessary to keep a 24/7 40km/h limit. The better TM companies will change the signage back if this isn't the case but there are sooo many cowboys in the TM game. There are new Australian Standards on the cards and I'm pretty sure a lot of these issues are being covered which will make it legislation.
A lot of the issues like no end to the speed zone change (my pet hate) aren't reported to MRWA by the public and the TM contractors get away with it.

Yep, just laziness on the
Yep, just laziness on the part of the contractor IMO, but they would argue there's still a hazard there. Saying that I do a lot of storm grate repairs In the City of South Perth and no matter how much signage I put up knob jockeys will not slow down. I always park my truck behind me so I can't get cleaned up.

Not always
But sometimes this is due to the road conditions themselves limiting the speed.

Bloody oath, Ive seen on a couple of occasions on the highway north, where there is no open road sign after the roadworks.
And on occasion signs on the weekend with all machinery parked up and not a worker to be seen.
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.

Agree , it sets a bad example.
Was just going to say the same thing , think I have had 1 fine in 10 years , although Im no saint but try to be a responsible road user.
The business about leaving roadwork signs up over long weekends etc , when its all clear , and those stupid areas were it goes 100/ 80 /60 back to 80/then 60 etc all within
a kilometer or so again over weekends or the middle of the night when no-ones there is just not helping the cause.
If theres a reason for slowing traffic , then fine , but we have all seen what Im talking about , and it just jades drivers to not do the right thing
when blokes and girls are actually working.

Police having a major blitz this week
Traps everywhere both north and south of the river and bikes and cars both plain and marked everywhere. Bikes targetting mobile phone use extensively and, bluntly, good on em, don't speed and don't use hand held phones and you won't be effectec

I saw somewhere, and I think it was on the east coast, the coppers were dressed up like road workers at the road works and getting people on their phones and for not wearing seat belts. They were having a field day.

Yes, you can get done
Was done at Binnu years ago, roadworkers had doubtless complained to the Northampton coppers. Fair cop, i was over, even thoughI was on the exit side and way from the workface. Some people are absolute fuckwits around roadworks, seem to think they are special and it desn't apply to them, puts the roadworkers at risk. Then yes, they leave the signs up with not a person or vehicle in sight, this is what pisses people off

Worked out on the highway up
Worked out on the highway up here last year and even with proper traffic management an site would have been less than 10 % that actually slowed to the speed. Pretty scary when a triple cattle truck come through at 100k's. It only takes one small missile to hit you in the head to do damage. Agree if there is no need for the signs to be up they should be taken down and put back up when needed. The mob we had for traffic management would get their arses kicked if they left signs up.

I did a bit of work in that
I did a bit of work in that industry for a few years. (Prob sold out a bit early but that's another story). Signs are left out after hours and usually do include speed restrictions. Has to be reasonable otherwise they are pointless and that just adds to the problem.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
