Soft plastics

So i did some reading, watched some videos and i ended up going with the Z man 7" scented jerk shadz in nuked chicken and glow paired up with 3/8 1/2 and 3/4 oz weights with 5/0xh jig heads. Then a z man 9" grubz in neon pink.

How does this sound for snapper and dhuies in 10 - 18m of water

We use 7" jerk shadz with 1 oz 7/0 and 5" with 5/0, use coconut ice or glow.

20-30m watr

Dhu love the glow.

I read some where 1 gram per meter of water. Do you think 5/0XH will be too small?

Pretty well sorted

Get some paddle tails to fish when you have no drift/current. The tail helps slow the placcy down for max free fall time! And I try fish as light jig head as possible in the depth/current you are fishing.

We use the exact same set up mate, prefer the nitro jig heads but have used those ones and they are fine. The big pinkies can make a mess of both brands of jig heads occasionally. In those depths the 3/8 head is ideal, you may want to grab a pack of 1/4 oz heads for slowly fluttering placcys down on cray pots on no-drift days if thats your thing, it can be very effective at times. We like to use berkley jerk shads, best colours seem to be nuclear chicken, blue pepper neon, pilchard or white, what you have bought will work just as good I'm sure, pinky aren't too fussy when they are on the feed.

I mix it up a bit, mainly use Abrolhos soft plastics, but always have an octa jig bouncing around down there. I’ve caught 2 of my pinkies last year on fish candy smash crabs in the blue manna colours when nothing else worked.

Yeah, just leave the rod in the holder and let the up down motion of the boat work the lure, that’s all it takes.

Mix it up with smaller sizes

Mon, 2018-07-09 12:28

Mix it up with smaller sizes too, the 5in zman paddlerz go well. The headlockz range(blue packet) of jigheads has a way better hook keeper more suited for zman plastics, you'll find they slip down a lot more on the other range of jigheads

Yer same i cleaned up all my gear and found about a back pack full of hard body lures from when i was living up in karratha, all still in the packets. I buy all this gear and end up turning back to a couple of old favourites.
