Soft Plastics clean up

Had a great day fishing in 40m West of Hillaries today. I decided it was time to bite the bullet and use only soft plastics (7inch mcarthys), while my two mates used squid with a wrasse sweetener.

First spot and I had hooked up solid to a good Breaksea before they had even baited up (cheating they said).

I then followed up with a Sambo of 15kgs (released). We moved to the next spot a I was the rose between two thorns . All lines went down together (mine much slower) and touch touch whack im into a Jewie of 11kgs.

Over the next couple of hours the bait boys got 2 jewies 500(released) and 540 (kept) plus a baldie and nice flathead. I kept my best to last , teasing a 12kg jewie into falling for the trap(released).

All fish were measured with the virtually unbreakable Re-Pete Fish Ruler cheers Pete.

I went out today for a plastic bash on my own picked up two duhies first one went 8 kilo which I released as I had only been fishing for ten minutes second duhie went 6 kilos which I kept as it was nearly time to go home only other fish was a sargaent baker the colour that got the duhies was baby elf tried chartruess , copper chartruess and the pink but baby elf was the only one the fish were intrested in was a pretty quiet day out at south west bank today but still good to feel a few decent duhies on my new sp rod.

In my limited experience with artificials, I landed two fish the other day for not a touch on bait. I'm convinced it's a better way of fishing, the only thing is I don't think you'll get the mixed bag.

Went out from Rocko in my dinghy to 20m and about 4nm and got 2 dhuies (65cm and 55cm), foxfish and blackass. Best session I've had out of rocko, went out the next day and only got a blackass and scorpionfish. So I think I got lucky!

Went out from Lano on Monday and got 4 dhuies (3 size, biggest was 66cm), 5 Pinkies (2 size), 3 baldies (around 56cm), 2 blackass, 2 scorpion and a foxfish, was a hot session constantly getting good bites over featureless ground. Got 5 of the fish on an octo jigs and flick rod which was fun and tried the McArthy's and knifejigs but didn't get a sniff and too much work.
