I have 20 panels and unfortunately they face East / West
on a good day we would get 24kw so i would say what you are getting is right.
I was told though they do not like very hot days they produce better mid 20's low 30's. But can't be sure this is true.

a little more info
a little more info please.
Are all your panels facing the same direction?
is there any shading? Roofs, Trees, Vent pipes, TV antenna...?
What wattage are you panels
5kw... this is your inverter size?
The production figure. Where are you getting this from. The inverter, the meter? is this an average or spot reading and over what time frame.

yep... you got a problem
I have a 3kw 16 panels west facing due to space and get what you get or more from November to April.
I get my reading off my inverter daily graph

yes
for 3KW that would be about right, and maybe clean they could produce 10% more energy?
today might be a bit too hot for a great reading, but I expect 20 KWh from a day like today.
That is good for me as I sell back power at 47c and use it at half that and they send me a cheque instead of having to pay bills for half the year.
If you missed that deal you paid half the price I did and should use power in the day and it will be saving you money.
The salesman told me to expect about 14KWh average per day per year and that to decrease a little over time, and that is what I get.

Since installation have
Since installation have produced 20 Megawatts of electricity without burning any fossil fuel!
Just the power of the big Nuclear energy ball, called The Sun by putting a few panels on the roof!
I supply my neighbours with my excess generated electricity for which I get 10cts a kilowatt and they are charged 24cts a Kilowatt.
In short Solar Power does work!
Wait till we get a bigger fleet of electrical vehicles, charged/fuelled by the sun! at no costs and No Taxes!

Is yours a Simrad sloar
Is yours a Simrad sloar system?
I must say you are an eternal optomist Glastro
You likely will have paid GST on your system, then supply it to the grid where it is marked up 150%, GST added then resold to your neighbours.

Even then it will be taxed as it gets popular.

I must say, there is no doubt
I must say, there is no doubt Solar is very popular in Perth. I can't say i have seen any situations like a few years ago when people where asked to conserve energy and do the big things off peak. It doesn't happen now and it makes me wonder what would happen if Perth turned off thier inverters and see what load that places on the state grid?
I'd have to be megawatts worth of energy!!

Temperature
Hi Paul. The temperature heat coeffeciency of the panels is a big selling point , if you have cheaper panels they have a lower TC and better quality panels have a higher TC meaning they loose their effiecency over 22 - 25 deg Most 3 kw systems as an example on a good day will only put out around 2.5 to 2.7 kws and they don't produce full power all day either , first in the morning you will only have 500 watts output etc and then builds up as the sun rises and drops of in the arvo . So what your producing now is reasonable , You could look at another 2 kws as your investor can handle it , this way in the morning and arvo you may be producing more power with less sun , but the quality of the panels is a big factor , I didn't believe in Australia our panels don't even get over the 25 deg rating , so on summer days when it's 35 plus systems will be affected and not working to their prime rating

Yes. Just one of he many
Yes. Just one of he many variables in a PV installation. Over their lifetime the good quality cells more than pay back their higher initial purchase price with better performance and reliability.
Cloud and temperature variables play a big role in installation output, so identical systems located on the coast compared to ones in the eastern suburbs will have differing daily outputs due to temperature degradation. Same with cloud cover.

Amorphous type panels are about the only types of panels that work well in the heat and are best in cloudy conditions, but they don't make the in House Solar types I don't think.
