Sounder Choice

I have a question for all the gurus out there - What sounder should I Buy?

Looking for something that will give me a good view of the bottom in 200m+ and has bottom lock. The sounder will mostly be used in the 90m area with occasional trips out wider, thats where the 200m+ comes in.

Have found a couple that seem good but would like some other opinions on what you use or would recommend.

That's what I am going for on the next upgrade. Lots of models to choose from and some awesome power and definition. True bottom lock function as well.

Makes my "Garmin 160 Blue" look like an old atari game versus PS3.

Cheers

Thats one brand Ive looked at Andy. I am actually looking for commercial units more so that standard sounders. Looked at a KODEN CVS-833 today. With transducer it comes in about $4500.

JRC

Trying to price up a new boat with the fit out I want. Not going to cut any corners on electronics going to try get it right first time. Even considering radar for night trips.
Actually went to find a JRC FF50 today but found they have stopped making them again. There is meant to be a FF80 on the drawing board that would probably do what I want but there is no estimated release date or any info from JRC yet.
The Furunos are good but its a costly jump up to a model to do what I want. Had in mind the FCV-1100L but at 5K plus transducer it starting to get a bit pricey.

It will put a big hole in the pocket but as you say you get what you pay for.

Its funny what you find when you look into these things. The book on the Navman 4500 that I currently have says depths to 1000m but it looses the bottom at 150m which is to be expected.

Cant rely on any of the manufacturer specs on the units for working depth, thats why Im asking for any info from forum members. Dont want to waste a ton of cash.
