Looks like a ball of fish
Looks like a ball of fish sitting on the right side of the screen. On my fcv 295 bait is yellowy/ light blue an any thing bigger as more dark blue/ red. With the depth id be suprised if it didn't have a few gray band floating arounfmd. I'd be draging a few Big baits on circles thru it

looks like a ledge
with fish holding on it! to me i would zoom in more say 200 to 250 metres and turn your gain up a little! but from that pic i would be saying there could be a school of pinks or reds there and usually where you find them you get the grey bands etc etc

For us that have no "friggen"
For us that have no "friggen" idea about sounders, could someone please describe what on earth we are looking at.
The blue, red, yellow, green
I looked at the picture and thought that was sloping ground with a bombie on the right.
If its a whale then its a big one as it would be 20+ metres wide?????? see I have no idea what I am looking for.
I am requesting this as a learning curve for me as well.
Thanks
Michael

I'm no expert
but I'll explain as best I can. The top of the thick red colour indicates the bottom. All colouring below the red (and the thickness of the red) is giving an indication of the hardness of the bottom. Everything above the red colour is growth on the bottom or fish. There appears to be a ledge around 35m high showing about one quarter in from the LHS of the screen and fish are holding on that ledge. About one quarter in from the RHS of the screen there appears to be a 10-20m hole with fish showing above it. Hope this helps but I repeat I am no expert.

What Alan said for my
What Alan said for my money.
I'm wondering if that's a hole on the right or another smaller ledge stepping up , who knows , but well well worth a good few drops.
anything showing like that, above the red bottom trace, is always going to get fished , on my boat.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

looks like youve steamed over
looks like youve steamed over a bit of a ledge, looks very interesting fishwise.
But one thing with sounders, is that interpereting a still picture is the same as looking at a still shot from a movie and trying to tell what the story is about.
For example if the boat was deadstill in the water above that, the picture would be nothing like whats seen there.
Likewise if you went over at 15 knots for example.
What did you get the next morning?
