Spangie or Sweetlip??
Submitted by ealzee on Thu, 2012-01-05 19:18
Hey crew caught this lovely looking fella only about an hour and a half from perth is this a baby spangled emperor(north west snapper) or a sweetlip. I have never seen a snapper of this kind so far south before.
Any suggestions?

Agree with Brusesta
looks like a juvenile Blue Lined Emperor to me. Very similar to Spangled.
On the other hand....?

Havn't heard
of to many Spangled/Blue lines but there are numerous reports of Red Throats being caught as far south as Gracetown/Prevelly.

:)
Sorry Bruce, still a spangly. My job for 15 months was to dissect spangled emperor, this included under size spangled emperor (fisheries research exemption) and well, let me tell you if I never see a spangly ever again - well, I won't be phased. ;) For those of you into spanglies, some reading if your interested.
