spangled emperor

Hi all, just after some background info on
spangled emperor as they have become
number one on my hit list as of late.

Can anyone give me some pointers or shead
some light on how to encounter them
more often in the mid west region? what areas
to search? near or offshore, what types of
aproach to use to get close enough to them?

equipment to use reel or float? ect. thanks

hahaha cam!

i got one 5kg on friday mate at Snapper Bank - Typical after trying hard to get you one at hummock for 2 days mate.... Saw maybe half a dozen and it was the easssiest spango ive shot!

things id recommend for ya dude

BURLY over sand gutters , loooove burly

Be very patient as they are sooo flighty usually

That edge you've got is perfect with the paxman reel as i found they spooked alot quicker when i ran a floatline

Next trip mate we WILL get ya one mate

What do you use for burly??

What do you use for burly?? Where I spear there are plenty of sharks so I have avoided burly, I know there harmless most of the time but I don't like them.

I see plenty of spangos and other grassies but they are really flighty so the only advice I would say is like poddyfish said be patient. I just make try and it seem like you havent even noticed the fish untill you are close enougth.

Not far out for me, always seem to be on squid baits with reasonably light tackle makes it good fun. Couple of 5kg at Tantabiddi about a month ago while I was in Exmouth for a weeks holiday, probably not defined as Mid WA but saw them everywhere there. Made 3 or 4 runs off my 10kg baitcast Abu setup.
