Spearfishing on compressed air in Exmouth
Submitted by BQ544 on Wed, 2008-05-14 17:10
Just want to clarify the rules:
Spearfishing in the gulf is ok?
Spearfishing around the islands is ok except in the conservation areas?
Inside the marine park only freediving north of tantibiddi?
Does all that sound correct
thanks

Spearing in Exmouth
Got to watch out for species aswell.
Inside the marine park north of Tantas is ok to spear but what you can spear is very limited, think it is only spangos and mackies. All the cods, trout, bluebone etc are protected
However I must admit that I am not a fan of spearing on compressed air - especially up there, near on everything you could want to spear is well and truly within even an average persons breath hold.

Yep
Gotta agree, dont think spearing on compressed air would be much of a challenge. Especially when a lot of the fish swim onto the end of your spear when free diving anyway.
But yep, no compressed air in the marine park, only really spanglies and mackies in the marine park north of Tantas. No spearguns south of Tantas and north of Winderbandi. Gully is on the money.

not always that easy
Its not always that easy, just need to find the spots. Once you've got that, its ON. But your right, it certainly is gods country.
