Word of advise
make sure you get the map/pamphlet containing all the sanctuary zones and no spearfishing areas. Can be pretty confusing up there sometimes.

heaps of sanctuaries and no
heaps of sanctuaries and no spearing areas in the Ningaloo Marine Park so the best tip I can give is grab a brochure and have a read.
I've never speared Coral Bay but have speared Exmouth heaps and the fish are there if you're happy to swim for them.

Coral Bay
Not much to spear in Coral Bay except pelagics and spango's. But yes, as others have said, marine park means none of the really tasty species can be speared in that area. No spearguns in the boat south of tantabiddi is a big one. If you are pretty new to it, theres lots of homework to do on what you can and can't spear and where.

This should explain a bit of it. From what I understand guns are banned in commonwealth waters(more than 3 miles offshore) but its ok to have them on the boat inside 3 miles even in sanctuary zones as long as your not using them, take the spear out and stow the gear somewhere not in plain sight was my advice . Same with rods in a sanctuary zone, leave them in the rocketlauncher but make sure no bait left on hooks and take the lures off. I got my info from fisheries here in Exmouth only a few weeks ago.
Hope it is right .
