sprinkler bans and don't lose your car.

Just a reminder that theres a 2 month sprinkler ban starting from tommorow,,most of W.A is included in the bans.
Also don't get caught driving without a license,,you will lose your car or the one you are driving and don't lend your car to anybody,,if they don't have a license even if you do not know you will lose your car for a month and hefty storage fees will apply.
Police in Rockingham are ready for 100's of cars

A ban for idiots
anyone who has had their irrigation going for the last few weeks and has it going for the next 3 months is a dropkick. This includes councils who can easily turn off any system - it ain't rocket science, they are just slack. I think the Rocky police may have underestimated their requirements.

Thats right Ian,,i turn mine of most years early june and turn back on end of September,,i can't remember the last time i had them on this year though.
The only problem is for bore owners,,if you dont turn them on for a few minutes regurly you will dry the seals and up for expensive repairs,,so the bore fixers might have a windfall,,lol

This Gov't is not about reform. It's about revenue raising. Sure, chase the hoons and impound their cars. The rest of it should be considered on merit and there are laws in place to deal with that. A lot of people have lost licenses for stuff they don't even know about or are in fact trying to negotiate with the beaurocracy.
Take a look at the hikes that are happening now in all essential services like gas and electricty. Look at the hike in fees for boat rego etc.. same ole same ole.. i'm looking for a tree change I recon. Smoke my own brocilli, chew carrot, get high on the smell of Karri smoked Trout... FFS

no need to water during
no need to water during these times anyway and if you drive with an expired licence or lost one you deserve what you get imo, too many out there driving unlicenced as they did the wrong thing in the first place, if you dont agree with that its your choice but its my way of thinking, do the crime do the time

they only take your car
if it is a court imposed suspension not just for un paid fines or expired licence
but it sounds like a good way to stop repeat drink drivers from getting behind the wheels if they dont have a car to drive then they cant kill some innocent driver

I watered by hand hose all summer
didn't use sprinkler for my two days, lawn was brown, plants and lawn survived, with winter rains grass (bloody weeds to). We don't water by sprinkler much as we go away and to us its a waste of water, your garden will survive with not much water, plus we have a lot of native and hard plants that don't like a lot of water due to the fact we do go away alot in the hotter months. Personally should be a sprinkler ban 24/7 as Perth and suburbs are expanding at a alarming rate,we just don't have the water. No Government are going to listen to what Ernie Bridges said, "Bring it down from up north." Yet they are going to blow what is it nearly $1 billion on another desal plant, robing Paul to pay Peter.
have to agree with Sandy & Russ, do the crime do the time

Not sure Bodie,,just heard sprinkler ban ???
Well i just saw the police loading a car onto a tow truck at Safety bay,,anybody see the news one couple was living in there car and had to put all there belongings on the verge when it was towed away,,another lady has lost her mobile food van as the young employee had no lisence it turned out,,,could lose $1200-$1500 a week maybe ?
Its a good idea in principal but i don't agree with the law that hard woking, law abiding people can suffer because some one said they had a licence,,if its the companys only work truck it could cost their house ,marriage and worse.

Impoudment Great Idea....but!
I was running a (Magistrates) Court yesterday and my wife works for TRANSPORT (formerly DPI as of 01/07) - so I spent a lot of time discussing this with my Wife, Lawyers and a couple of police prosecutors.
Personally, I think it's largelly a VERY good idea - but as Andy correctly infers, it makes it impossible for business fleet/vehicle owners. There IS no mechanism in place at the moment for business owners to guarantee that the licence someone produces has not been revoked.
Even if someone has there licence suspended or cancelled by the court, there is, as far as I'm aware, no enforcement on people hanging in their licence - they are simply requested to go to Transport and hand their licence in. In the old days, police used to take your licence off you in court - I know - .
Perhaps what they need to do is exempt commercial non owner drivers? What about companies that hire out small trucks for folks moving between houses. There's one in Albany and they only have three Isuzu's.
Or maybe an online register (that's kept up to date - yeah right!) of revoked licences - Just a licence number will do - no further details. I can't see Transport doing that either.

and it gets better
As I understand it, and by all means correct me if I'm wrong, the impounding of vehicles relates to ALL revoked licences. So that's not just those where the licence suspension/cancellation is impossed via a court ruling.
It also includes those that have lost their licence through the accumulation of too many demerit points and/or through fines enforsement.
...and if it's not tricky enough for you, what about drivers that are elligible for the 'double or nothing' good behaviour system - they have 21 days to decide on whether they wish to do that.

It doesn't include fines
It doesn't include fines enforcement and now they are looking at changing the legislation so that if you are caught in a vehicle not owned by you, your vehicle will be substituted......if you own one??
