Squid?

Jumped in late yesterday looking for a feed of squid, Cockburn sound produced a few small squid relative to the time spend targeting them.

Any feedback as to where the larger squad are bing taken?

I was squidding in the Sound

I was squidding in the Sound last week and got 9 in about 2 hours of effort. 7 of them were all really small and 2 of them quite large, you've just gotta fight through the small ones and you'll get some big ones.

We got 30 between 3 of us on Saturday in 2 hours in the sound. Most of them were quite big too!

Find some weed and drift. Try some different colours too, blue and pink was the go Saturday morning.

I've fished the southern flats...

...exclusively for the past five or six years and used to bag out every time. Now I battle to get double digits and very few of them are good size. I know that other, more northern parts of the sound are producing squid in good numbers and sizes; has anyone else noticed a decline in the flats? Or is it just me?

Shot out again on Saturday

Mon, 2014-05-19 12:18

Shot out again on Saturday for a couple of hours in the morning with my old man.
Ended up with 21, most of came from straight in front of the old power station.
Water was still pretty dirty with a fair bit of weed floating around. We were using all sorts of colored jigs pinks, copper, blues whatever they were all catching. 3-4 sizes generally the bigger jigs were getting the bigger squid.
