Hey danno

the squid are just not taken the 2.5s... they dart for it and then like FARKK that, its to big of a prawn, and dart off..

we have like a 2.0* 75m and that is white with a pink stripe and the squid love it...

and liam is spott on!

around jetties near rocks... just stand there and move the jig around nad about 5 come into view...

if thats not walking we walk up and down the jetty slowly

:D

we are total kooks at it, but hayy it workkss, that 5 tonight on the small one!

fair enoughbut i find that you'll get just as many on a 2.5/3.0 if you keep them exited, alot of people pause it and when the squid starts moving away they wind it in. what works and worked well in busso was when they start moving away free spool it and the jig sinks the squid will come back and be like what the i dont want to miss out on a feed and come back if they are still only looking at it twitch i aggresively 2 or 3 time and pause normaly on the pause they come and nail it. if not repeat they'll either eat it becasue they want to or grap it because its annoying them or they get to curious for there on good. i find that the harimitsu's and the evergreens are best for this technique.

okay you have the jetty and you drop your jig vertically, and basically 0.5m underwater, you can see the squid (wearing a headlight)

so what would you do then??

pause the jig and see if its

Sat, 2011-04-23 22:08

pause the jig and see if its interested, if it starts to move away free spool it and it should come back and have a look, then pause it down deep and a small twitch after a while to see if it hooked if not fast aggresive twitches say 2 or 3 then pause near the surface. it should come and nail the jig after the twitches. if not repeat it shouldnt move away unless you hook it and drop it but other wise it should hang around untill you've hooked it. this is where the good jigs come in handy with the strong side to side darting action gets the squid very exited.

Sat, 2011-04-23 22:08

hello diehard . if you are on the jetty as explained you can simply mimmik a bait fish by using very short shap lifts side to side like a pannicing baitfish would. this will excite the squid and confuse it creating a reaction strike from the squid on the pause / sink. hope this helps

Kanji clicks under 2 . You won't catch any decent ones on it but its killer on the pissy ones that hang at the rock wall base. You can get em at spew water

i agree with danno, if the squid come around your squid jig at the jetty, why not put a 3 on and cast it out? I can understand if they're under the jetty but it's not much fun.

Caught the smallest squid on the 3, only ever us 2-3.

If squid are coming up and sniffing it, free spool it they usually grab it on the drop. If it's still not getting them, change colour.

Found that pink or a green usually comes up excellent. Squid love a really agressive retrieve.
