Squidding Last night. Pics

Hey all.

With a sort of busy day i was laying on the couch and was board as so my mate walks over and says you wanna got for a fish? hell yer.

Got my squidding gear organised and though might as well tie the knots down there and get on the road as fast as. Got to woodies and started tieing the knot but it wouldnt work so i was getting quite annoyed. Finaly got the knot right put on a 3.0 yamashita glow white squid jig and got to a spot where we were going to hang for a while. I said to my mate how funny would it be if i got a squid first cast and make that three squidding session in a row, forth twitch bang on i was like mate im on he didnt believe me untill it was spraying ink in the air haha go me.

Had a few flicks around and moved up and down the rock wall every couple of casts. Got a cuttlie and a squid then went back to the spot where my mate was and asked if he got any herring he said no so i had a cast and bang got a squid then cast out again and got another squid. My mate snagged and chucked in the towel. A strom then started making its way in so he bailed to the car while i kept squidding. I got another couple on my Yamashita Naory 2.2 runge hunter.

I ended up with 7 squid not huge but big enough to eat and a cuttle fish so not bad for a 2 and a half hour flick. I have some photos but my good computer died on me so im stuck with the crap one so cant upload pics but i will be able to at my dads tomorrow night. Just ate all the squid and it was YUMMY!!! Ill never get sick of squid mmmm.

Cheers Danno.

Good effort mate.

I bought a few more jigs to test out after speaking to you. Oceanside have a squid imitation yo-zuri too which looks awesome and might bring out some monsters. I'll give them all a good run soon and see what I like.

Oh yer mate ar the the aurie

Wed, 2011-04-27 22:18

Oh yer mate are they the aurie Q rs? they look good but the only reason i didnt get them is because i dont like the swivel eyes on jigs, i prefer the fixed eye so i can jig it more aggressivly with out ti spinning around. Id be keen to see how they go tho as i was tempted to get one the other day and use it more slowly...

What other jigs did you get? I just ordered something special that should be in next week someitme im pretty exited to see and use it...

Woodies was doing alright on the smaller squid i just need to get into some of the bigger models. lets us know when your going next and we can try and meet up for a squid.

i use breaden egi clips.

i use breaden egi clips. there 8 or 9 bucks for ten but it makes life so much more easyer to change jigs fast.

there the same ones in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK462d80ENY

i can change jig to jig in seconds with this clip. the good thing is they dont open so they dont get weak from the opening and closing lasting longer and staying strong.

Clips!

Clips serve another purpose on jigs. As we use fairly light leader at times for shy jigs, the angle of the jig sinking and the country you use the jig in the clip acts as abrasion resistence where a mono loop would eventually where through. It won't make a big difference for weekend plonkers however for active squidders doing a couple of hundred casts in an evening you will throw away a $35 jig.  Nice catch Danno.
