Stainless hard top mods - advice needed

I have a question about modifying the legs of a hard top to suit a different boat.

The rear leg mounting is too narrow to fit my boat where they need to mount.

What I need to do is widen the rear legs from 1950mm to 2100mm so that would be 75mm per side.

My question is, would creating a relief cut at the top of the leg and then having that welded up once the leg is bent out to the correct angle be possible and/or practical?

Widening the top structure would be ideal but then the hard top mounting points wouldn't line up.

The legs are 32mm stainless tube.

Picture below may help explain.

I see no problem with doing that as you described.

You might have to fill the weld up a bit or cover with a small bit of plate, to close the bigger gap the relief cut and bending will produce.

Only problem l can see is if there are feet attached to the legs. These wont sit flat on the gunnels if you open it out.

Thanks guys, was thinking maybe the same method could be applied to the bottom of the leg to get the mounts to sit flat again. I could always shim the mounts with a wedge of nylon or similar.
