Those stats you have found

Those stats you have found I'm pretture sure it's a PE rating.. ie 15lb and 20lb are for PE1.5 and PE2 respectively. I am thinking of getting one to jig with PE2, was looking at filling it with PE2 (30lb).

Good to hear John, although a bit less is fine for most jigging. What rod are you running it on?

How long has this PE rating been about??

Mon, 2011-09-05 06:17

And it still confuses everyone, especially as line tecnology changes.

I have a 50lb line on my Stella 8000SW. So PE5 roughly as I understand, and I am going to stick with my understanding (times it by 10lb). But the true PE of the line I have on it is certainly only PE2-3, ie 20-30lb. PE is a line diameter rating, not a strenght rating and the  50lb on the stella is much thinner than the 50lb I have on the Saltiga 20 2s OH.

I know one thing, the braid on the Stella cost a wop more than the Finns on the Saltiga. How excited was I, I forgot the name of the braid when I spooled it. All I know now is it is colour coded jigging braid and not Varivas but about the same bling $$$ as Varivas. I wanted that on it but there was non up here and I wasnt going to wait to use it.

So from strenght I have 50lb on both. PE I have 5 on the OH and  2-3 on the Stella. Just imagine if you are new to fishing????

No, PE2 - 270m on the 4000PG.

If you'd like to use PE3 I'd suggest going with the 6000PG which has a capacity of 300m PE3.

Jay, the 4000pg is THE light

Mon, 2011-09-05 19:03

Jay, the 4000pg is THE light jig spin reel. Typical Stella smoothness and bombproof feel, but extra light and the carbon knob is simply sensational. I change the knob to the standard T handle for soft plastics, but recently got a Certate 2500 for PE1 soft plastics which is suitable for snapper etc in metro.

I took one crank of timvb's 4000 and had to have one. Tim has a 6000pg as well, which is a great PE3 reel but I have the oceajigger, not as good drag as the Stella but way more cranking power.

You won't be sorry with a 4000pg.

Rob got pe2 I reckon more fun

Rob got pe2 I reckon more fun haha. On my twinpower 5000 I run pe3 but from memory didn't get full 300 metres on. I think if you put pe3 on it won't matter though still will have plenty of line.
