Stradic Fi

Anyone tried out the bigger versions of the new Stradics. I am particularly interested in the 6000 and 8000 to match a 9 foot Starlo Stick.
All input would be most welcome.
Thanks Colin Hay

They appear to have all the fruit

Shimano has added a lot of its latest technology to the Stradic and claims the 8000's drag can pull 13 kilograms. Just wondered if anyone has looked one over or heard any good or bad reports.
Many thanks Colin

Can't comment on the bigger

Can't comment on the bigger sizes but I've got the 4000FI and I've given it a pretty good workout on barra, jacks and threadies over the last couple of months. It's a nice smooth reel for it's price and I love it. Only problem I've had is the drag clicker on both spools has packed it in.

I was going to put a Stradic

I was going to put a Stradic 8000Fi on my 9' Shorespin but I went for the Capricorn 4500J simply because of the convenience and I pretty much use Daiwa for anything...

However, 6000 size is perfect, and I suspect that 8000 would be too as it is only a fraction larger.

A stradic 6000fi with the 9' shorespin is a killer combo! I would definitly do it!

My manager Joffa used one up north and landed a nice sized YFT on the outfit from off the back of a crayboat... the pics may be up on the bluewater site, not too sure though... but I can vouch for it heh.

He was using a stradic 6000FA and a 9' shorespin so nothing wrong with that!

Thanks Brad and Rickets

For the price they look pretty good value. I have a Fi2500 which I use for breaming and it works really nicely. I have checked a few shops here and they only hold up to the 4000 at this stage. I was going to go for a 6000, but as the 8000 is the same weight, is only a few dollars more and holds a bit more line, I have decided to that way.
Are you able to replace your drag clickers Brad.

Thanks again for the info, it is good to get some feedback before you lash out with the cash.

Regards Colin Hay

G'day Colin I assume you're talking to me. I beleive the drag clickers could be replaced quite easily depending on availability of parts.

Colin there's no difference

Colin there's no difference in size between the 6000 and 8000, just the spool capacity. Both also running the same gear ratio.

Have you thought of a spheros  FB which are in 8000 size.

If they are anything like the Normal spheros they would be another good option.

Thanks Honshu and Dean

Yeah Dean, That was my second choice. I picked up a catalogue in a magazine somwhere. Nice tough looking reels.

Hi Honshu, I think the 8000 Fi is only a $9 to $10 more and I am happy to pay for the extra  line capacity, which is quite substantial.

many thanks for input, All the best Colin
