Sub run
Submitted by carnarvonite on Mon, 2015-06-01 20:24
Had to do a run out to sea in one of the rescue boats to collect a seaman off a submarine and take him in to hospital.
Was an awesome sight to see it waiting for us to come alongside to get him on board right as the sun was coming up. Not something sees every day and not likely to again for quite a while.

Was it one of our Collins subs or someone else's?

Ours
One of ours, they contacted me yesterday to do all the arrangements and it went off like a piece of cake. Thankfully the wind and chop was a long way down on what it had been for the last 3-4 days so getting him off was easy.

Great pics. The subs are actually quite deadly when running silent on batteries. My bro served on one for six months and took part in the RIMPAC exersizes. They actually sunk a yank aircraft carrier (mock of course) in the war games.

Offered
They asked how much they should donate for our service but we kindly refused their offer, after all , they do more than enough for the whole of Oz and it was only 6-7 out , the boat needed a run and was good training for the crew
