Nice Bag
Good Russ and Sandy, Glad to see someone got out to take advantage of the weather.
Three days without it and I get a little jumpy

Thats a fair day out guys. Well done. I hung out in the 10-27m range - but I think your tub is a fair whack bigger than mine ;-)

Went out from Mindarie this morning. Took my brother out before he flew back to Christmas island this arvo. Went to Burnes Rocks and picked up a good feed of decent size skippy.
Was a quick trip out but is nice just to get out on the water.

Great day on the water, not so much on the fishing
Took advantage of the weather and departed Freo about 5.30am. Took forum member Chan and his missus along for their first boating experience.
Hit the northen end of the 5 fathom - got zip here - we haven't had much luck with the back of the 5 fathom - are we too far North?
Then proceeded out to the 40m mark and tried a few spots we had in the sounder for not a whole lot of result - a few black a*se.
Proceeded to West End - was like the Kwinana freeway on a Friday afternoon - chockas! Chan got onto something large here but unfortunately dropped off halfway up :( Bummer...
Trolled the west end for some kingfish - no luck here either. Could someone explain more clearly where the Chicken Run is. Is it right in the entrance to Fishhook?
From here we motored back towards Freo to try for some King George.
Off the eastern end of Rotto we stopped in some sandy/weedy country. First drop I got my PB King George Whiting - 51cm. I was wrapped as I specifically wanted to target them - cheers to Ryan THipthorp for rig/bait advice - did the trick. We only managed to land one KG though.... Got a few sand whiting on the way back, oh and a decent size leather jacket.
Arrived back in Freo around 3ish just as the seabreeze made its presence felt. All in all a great day on the water - a few fish in the boat was a bonus.
Cheers!
Pete
