I have a theory as to why

Mon, 2011-01-10 12:26

I have a theory as to why the crabs are all up so far up the swan, when i went for a dive down around bicton, pt walter area the water was so salty, saltier then sea water that was couple of days after the rain too, so im pretty sure mid-upper swan has the more correct salinity levels.

River diving

Mon, 2011-01-10 12:57

Hey Dicey,

Could you actually SEE anything?

I went for a dive on 1st Jan, the water was the very worst I have seen there - and I have been diving in the river regularly for the past 20 years. AND we got not a single prawn! THAT's a first, too! Visibilty was so bad that I couldn't read my compass when I held it where I could focus on it!

I hope you did better!

Vis in bicton is very bad, however Vis in point walter was crystal clear im not actually diving but snorkeling, but yeh SW winds point walter is quite blocked off from winds and is quite calm, plenty of prawns in the shallow that are around 6-7cm, also snorkeled in the morning at 5-5:30am and saw the biggest clouds of baby prawns or shrimp that were 2-3cms swam straight through it, crabbing there is very slow this year.
