swan river muddie

Went crabbing last night around the lower swan area. Me and my mate got a good food mostly females with some big males here and there. However we were chattign with this other guy and he says theres a mud crab in his pot. So we we had a quick look and jeez it looked very like one. The shell/body only small maybe 5-6cm across but the claws were massive. It was whitish with a redish/orangish motley tinge. Never seen a crab like that in the swan and we were both adamant it was. It was raining so couldnt get my camera out. Have heard of muddies around any thoughts?

Might be this
The Asian paddle Crab. Was something on here before about it, and you should let fisheries know I think.

hmmm
It was pretty small but fairly positive it wasnt the paddle crab. Didnt seem to have those spikes on it and was different in colour to the description. Have heard of little muddies been caught in the swan and up round moore river. Will def keep an eye out for those paddle crabs never heard of them before so thanks for the tip:) The main thing that got me was the small size of the body and the huge really thick and chunky claws!

Small muddies
Don't know what they are called, they look like muddied but don't grow big, I have caught and released hundreds and most of them at Dunsborough on holidays. I was there this year and looked at a heap more, I have never used them as bait. They usually hide under rocks in shallow water
