Swan river tailor

was watching an episode of fishing WA and saw a part when they fished a large cliff-like hill next to meet Henry bridge. They pulled out tailor up to 40cm on their light lines. So I was thinking if I got in my kayak and casted some 10g twisty's towards the shore at this time of the year already, would that work? Or should I wait until the middle of summer? I have heard it's the best tailor spot in the river and I live close to it so it wouldn't be much of a struggle getting down there whenever I wanted to fish.

Yep worth a go for sure. Got into them regularly last year.. Won't be long now if they aren't there already. Such a great thing for late arvo fishing! I found pre Xmas fished better further up into the canning too but may have just been my luck last year :)

October is the time
http://fishwrecked.com/forum/48cm-swan-tailor
I reckon upsize the lure we use rapala crystal minnows/husky/slashbait trolling lures around 7-10cm Blue back silver bottom with black spots or clear colors. Friends use Damiki lures with a large bib about 60mm diving to 3-4mt which are pretty cheap.
Good luck I reckon october is the start of the season for big ones in the swan. Last year I caught a hooter that made the 48cm one look like a baby, we got it boatside but it backflipped and tailwhipped me, I reckon it was well above 60 and so does the deckie who had it halfway into the net....
!
Go hard at it I say, if lures suck, then slow troll mulies on a running ball sinker/ganged hook rig, which always seems to hookup, but lures for me have got the bigger ones.

Yep it was us . We wernt
Yep it was us . We wernt casting lures for tailor but we used small crabs for bait and they worked so well there. Couldn't get past the blowies with squid but if you waded out a bit and got it out into the weedy areas the bream hit it hard. Next to the pilons there hooked up to a 30cm plus bream but gave hm to much slack line while tightening up the drag and he came off. me and kingfishha are definately going again
