"As the swordfish lunged forward it's bill actually went down the throat of the guy holding the rod. Because almost all of the impact was into the back of the boat the guy was able to survive. If he had been sitting just a bit further forwards then it's highly likely he would have died from the impact. However, he still needed to be rushed to hospital for treatment after this ordeal.

Its a marlin, most probably be a black.
Swordfish dont jump at all.

yea i think I have seen that on foxtel before, was a young guy fighting the fish on a charter with his dad?
it was a marlin and the guy was pretty badly injured from memory, got him through the shoulder and straight to hospital.

Sorry Honsu, respect your opinions immensely...but I've seen a pic of a Swordfish in the air.
As a kid a family friend had a pic on the wall of him fighting a Swordfish, thing was completely out of the air and its a pic thats stuck in my mind since! He even had a fibreglass replica of the fish up on the wall, from memory it was taken way behind Rotto about 40 yrs back.
Best part was the gear they were using...looked like a 4wd winch on a flag pole!
