Tackle sellout in Myaree
Submitted by Cammos on Sun, 2011-01-30 14:50
Took the trip to Myaree today to have a look at the sale advertised in todays Sunday Times. Spent just under $200 and I felt like I ended up paying around half price, got a mixture of knife jigs, stick baits, plastics, some leader, lures among some other various stuff that will possibly never get used. I would say my best buy was a 400b Black Magic jig for $15 and a 300g for $12. Pretty sure I have paid $30 for these previously, but could be wrong.

I think its a bit of a con myself.
The hooks are what you pay for them in most places, and they have a lot of rubbish that is cheap, but its rubbish.

Apparently there was some good deals if you got in first thing this morning,,its stock from an ex ranger store,,
It was the last day of trading for safety bay tackle store today as well,,another one bites the dust,,that 3 in a year or so in Rockingham,,the demersal ban hit him real hard apparently,,

I got some stuff from that safety bay shop yesterday, the guy said he had only been open for 18 months and he confessed to not really knowing much about what he was doing.

Its interesting that Michael
Its interesting that Michael posted it up here for sale at $30,000 plus stock 2 weeks ago, he had a keen buyer from Pt Kennedy but it fell thru in the end, funny i advertised it here a while back for Aaron the person who started it and it was $5000 plus stock,,so most fishos would have balked at the increased price,,
Under Aaron the shop traded well and he sold it to get into the pizza business, the the demersal ban came in straight after having a big impact on bait sales which is a important part of a small shop and winters a killer also ,,the location is a bit out of the way as well,,i use to stop for the bakery over the road,,
It outlasted Baileys and Ranger but could not hold on,i guess if Michael ask for his money back for what he paid ($10,000) he mighht have got a quick sale,,

I try not to analyse it too
I try not to analyse it too much. It was cheap in my opinion. If it catches fish, great, if not it won't be the first or last couple hundred dollars I have thrown into the ocean for nothing.

I went a couple of times, but
I went a couple of times, but I wasnt fooled by signs that say sale when the crap costs exactly as much as it would at any other shop. The last time I was just laughing at how it was that sinkers and hooks were at crazy reductions, yet cost more than any of the regular stores that are open often instead of just an occasional sale.
Can't see how the demersal ban is going to affect a store that was stocking mostly for herring and whiting fishing.

I guess with this Ranger
I guess with this Ranger clearance sale its important to remember the closing down sale has already happened, when whichever store if was closed down,it might have been weeks or months ago and all the good stuff went then,,clearance sales are for the crumbs left over,,
