tagging and growth rates

Great stuff Paul. A couple of those fish have grown quite a bit in a short time. I think the longer you do it the more interesting it will be. Keep it up.

Have the fish moved very far from their original catch location? I have had one that had moved 20 odd kilometers in a couple of months.

yep well done paul

Interesting to see the break sea cod only grew 15mm in 1 year. Also a slow grower.

All fish were caught back

Fri, 2012-07-06 21:05

All fish were caught back from where they were tagged but we have dived on some of these spot more than once and these dhuies were not there they come and go .We got the first one i tagged the other week same spot .Have dived and fished this bit of ground on a regular basis and not seen it there as it is a small area .Funny thoe we caught near one year to the day from when tagged .We had one lump we tagged thirty dhuies + they have all moved on but I will be heading back to see if they show up again ,i think they come back each year to the same ground ,time will tell.As for the break sea i  would think given the max size of these fish 15mm is a big growth .will keep on tagging and will post results as we get them .

Good on you for all your hard work.

Really shows how slow growing the fish are and how susceptible to being fished out of an area they are.
