Tailor killer rig
Submitted by sherbert on Wed, 2009-11-11 09:30
Set up a new rig for tailor fishing And tried it out today
Steve and myself hit the northern beaches at 4am, And as soon as the rigs hit the water it was smash ,And that happened till around 5.30.And thay went off the bite for a short whlie, But came back on the bite around 30mins later
We picked up 6 good size tailor all over 45cm, And dropped around 12 to 14, And some of them were pulling line off the reel//SOME BIG FISH LOST
This new rig will be released soon And colin said he will try and get it in reeltime

Circle hooks work any good
Circle hooks work any good on the tailor??
thinking a 3 once spider sinker with a 2 foot long trace connected to a 3/0 circle might do the damage...
worth giving a go?

Circle hooks are crap for
Circle hooks are crap for tailor because you sort of need to strike at tailor, i have tried circles and failed many times but i'm no gun tailor fisherman

Tappered gang with a red snapper chem on the bottom?
2/0 for head, 4/0 for body, 3/0 for talish area and a 2/0 Red snapper on the end.
Worked magic for us.
Close, Hey hey!!! LOL
Waiting with mulie baited breath.

with tailor i believe simpler is better
with tailor i believe simpler is better and one of those little black swivel clips that can have a high strenght rating tied to your mainline and clipped to a gang of 3 with no end treble, excellent in calmer weather and if needed to sink alittle bit faster put a split shot on mainline, this is a baitcasting rig

3 Gangs = 3 Chances and its
3 Gangs = 3 Chances and its to do with the length of the bait.
No point putting a whole mulie on a single as chances are it will just get ripped straight off due to how soft they are.
With 3 hooks as they wittle the bait down they are more likely to hit a hook
It also keeps the bait straight and helps it no to spin allowing cast and retrieve AHHHH so many reasons why the gang is good!

The last point James made about keeping the fish
in a straight line is probably the most important, particularly when you are bait casting.

try repeatively casting a mulie on single hook
cost you a fortune
