Lucky to have 15 professional

Sun, 2017-09-24 21:10

Lucky to have 15 professional footballers playing against guys who have to work full time and fit training around that?

Nothing but a pathetic piece of shit football club who never achieved anything prior to the alignment besides being a laughing stock and a financial drain to the WAFL.

So what do you propose these AFL players should do if not in their top 20 each week.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think it was the WCE that initially pushed for their players to all be in one team (ie alignment)....

To have their own team in the WAFL.  How many would you need.

Failed maths.. 22.  Again in your opinion what should happen.  Because whatever they do there will invariably be someone complaining about that alternative setup.

As Seakem said. Without the two AFL club financial input most clubs would seriously struggle.

As below, you need to have

Wed, 2017-09-27 14:15

As below, you need to have played more WAFL games than AFL games that season and the alignment team's AFL players allowed to play is capped during finals to the average number of AFL listed players they played through the H&A season... at an absolute minimum. It's fairer for the rest of the comp and for the local Peelmantle and Leederville Eagles players who have helped the team get to the finals.

How many young players has Peel lost to the country leagues since the alignment? I can't tell you that but I can tell you that they have had 2 players drafted in the 4 drafts after the alignment and had 9 players drafted in the 4 drafts before the alignment.

Your final comment is also incorrect and only East Perth, Perth and Peel were struggling before the alignment. The WAFC hold the licence for West Coast and Freo and would have never let the WAFL die because it is such a rich source of talent for the AFL. In fact they have been propping up Peel financially since their inception.

 So riddle me this Batman.

Wed, 2017-09-27 16:42

So riddle me this Batman. You obviously don't like the current arrangement  so what or how are the Eagles (who you support) and the Shockers supposed to blood and get game time for their rookies and players on the rebound from injury? Play them in the local D grade comp so as not to upset anyone. Get real mate, they have to played at that level of competition. And the way I saw it Subi were right in that granny so obviously weren't outgunned ny an overloaded AFL aligned side.

Read my first paragraph above

Wed, 2017-09-27 23:31

Read my first paragraph above again but read it a little bit slower this time. I don't agree with the alignment just as I didn't agree with the host club situation from 1999 to 2001 but if it has to stay the number of AFL players playing finals has to reflect team selections throught the season proper.

Subi weren't outgunned but they were physically overun by a team stacked with players who are professional elite athletes.

The arrangement was what the WAFL clubs requested.........typical trash talk from a keyboard warrior and I don't follow footie at all so have no bias whatsoever!

Cool story Hansel

Mon, 2017-09-25 10:31

I have a great memory and I was a Swan Districts member at the time and attended the meeting regarding the alignment to make sure the club opposed the move and I can tell you that the President was furious it went ahead. That's a lot of effort for a 'keyboard warrior'...

Those that do follow the footie (sic) would know that the Eagles and Dockers requested placing two reserves sides in the WAFL and that proposal was voted down by the WAFL clubs. The two AFL clubs then struck a deal with the two alignment clubs and a meeting was organised between the WAFC and the 9 club presidents but the alignment model was never voted on in that meeting. The WAFC announced the new alignment model that week with most of the other 7 WAFL clubs only finding out about it through the media.

Can't help feel

Mon, 2017-09-25 08:43

It was a Dockers team. There needs to be minimum qualifying playing matches and maximum number of AFL players. Too many local lads missed out after playing the whole season in the senior side.

Mon, 2017-09-25 08:54

Well all I can say is that the WAFL would probably crash without alignment clubs to inject cash into the system. It's a basket case for sure but what would we have if not, probably nothing.

Both Freo and West Coast wanted to have reserve sides but WAFC did not want it, the Peel and East Perth got them. Can't blame anybody except the WAFC.

That's a start and also cap

Wed, 2017-09-27 09:07

That's a start and also cap the allowable Freo players in finals to the average no of players played throught the season at a minimum.

Not sure if your winding me up with that last question but of course I'd whinge if the Prince of Basso pulled on a Leederville Eagles jumper. In fact I'd probably vomit in my mouth on seeing it. Nic may be listed as a Leederville player but he's always at Swannies home games cheering them on in between the 20,000 photos he gets asked to pose for with all the kids.

Got ya. I thought by 'Eagles'

Wed, 2017-09-27 20:50

Got ya. I thought by 'Eagles' you were referring to the Leederville Eagles aka their reserves side as that's what most people call them these days. I would have voiced concerns that NicNat wouldn't be match fit but one player taking another's spot in the AFL is nothing like stacking a WAFL side and pushing out 5-6 players. What a bizarre comparison

 I disagree with those that

Wed, 2017-09-27 22:52

I disagree with those that think this should be a normality in the WAFL!!

Its a fucking joke... I wont pay any attention to the WAFL until the affiliated sides ( who i have no issue with ) have more realistic regulations regarding how they can load up and ruin the outcome of a Finals series because the side they are affiliated with is so fucking shit they have no chance of playing finals for 5 years....

Regarding Nic Nat and Petrie....

Petrie had 1 job to do, he had to try and hold up the Eagles Ruck Fwd stocks until Natanui was back playing...

If the coaches and selection staff deemed Natanui to be more beneficial in a GF ( IE Cyrli Rioli in 2014 ) for the WC Eagles and Petrie has to make way he of all people would understand the cut throat competitiveness of being in an AFL player and the reasons behind the clubs decision. He was given a lifeline instead of retiring, to compare that to a side that selects 15 of Freos players to chase silverware is shameful but no fault of the Thunder.

The sooner the WAFL sorts this bullshit out the sooner the majority will take it seriously again....
