tie your yaks on properly
hi guys i just wanted to shared my experience with you guys so it hopefully doesn't happen to you.
this morning i was being a paddler for my mum during her 9km swim, so after the briefing we loaded a friends ocean kayak frenzy on the racks with my malibu and set off to the start. we were about halfway to the start and we could hear a strange scraping noise, so we slowed down and my dad looked in the rearview mirror and saw one of the tie down straps had worked loose, right after that we see the frenzy fly off the racks and into the bush. my dad brakes and we hear this massive explosion. i see my malibu fly off the racks and onto the road, it slid for at least 10 meters down the road. i jump out of the car and run to see how much damage has been done, i'm relieved see it only had some scraps on the nose, rudder and a broken seat clip point. i go back to the hilux to see what the bang was, some friends that were going to the start stopped to help.it turned out that the canopy door was open , and when my malibu came off, the rudder caught the door and shattered the door with glass going everywere. the hilux had some nice dents and paint missing, not to menchon the door. the frenzy was fine and my malibu is fine. i just got to get some new parts for it and do some plastic welding, but if it was a glass ski it might have been different. no one was hurt and my mum finished her swim, so guy please make shore you tie your yak on nice and tight, as i don't won't you to go though that. so happy yakking and fish safe :-)
