Tiger shark photo

Soap box time. Just had a look on Perth now and saw the photo of a headless tiger shark foung by beach goers at a local groyn. WTF. What are people thinking .. No dramas catching them if thats your thing but dont leave it laying around to stink up a beach and give the anti fishing groups more ammunition. If this was you,  you are a complete muppet and I look forward to bumping into you next time you do it.

Rant over

Yeah not a good sight to see, at least eat it if your going to kill it . A nice picture and release would have made me happy rather than a small set of jaws on hung on the wall .

I chatted to the guys who claimed to have caught the above mentioned tiger and were adamant that they did try release it to no avail.

I see them from time to time down there and they seem to catch and successfully release sharks. Unfortunately this one didn't make it so they kept the jaws. Being at a popular, public location doesn't help the hysteria either.

I dont know them personally and I am not defending or condoning their actions, I'm just presenting another possible side to the story.

Serious question: I am curious to know what others would do in that situation. How would you properly dispose of a shark that's not going to make it?

I think one of the stories

I think one of the stories says because of the size it was protected ??  Wouldn't that mean your only course for disposal was to dump it back in the water else risk being caught with it in your possesion??  Not that cuttung it's head off is going to get you out of the poo.
