Till & Hlokk dive hillarys 8 Dec 2009

Haven't been out since Friday and the gills were starting to dry out - but they wen't the only thing.

Dived one of my regular spots and its really wearing very thin, only managed a few on that dive. Matt seemed fine in the water and we spotted a few PJs, cuttlefish, cobbler but not much else. It was one of those days when you're seemigly drier in the water than out, it was very windy up top.

Next we went out and to a bit of reef a little further north-west, and I noticed the pro string had gone. Dammit, those crays really must be legging it! We carried on to the out edge of the marine park and dived the last of the structure there.

The structure of the last dive was very low, only a couple of metres high, but we found plenty of crays along the sandy edge. Its so much more relaxing than the shallow dives that are all nooks and caves I must say.

Luke, one of my mates went for a dive out off Stragglers over the weekend, they got a couple there but said it was pretty hard going.

I have only really dive off Hillarys regularly. If you take me with you though, I can tell you if there are any crays down there *beforehand*

Didnt need much convincing

Didnt need much convincing :p

Went almost perfect for the first cray I looped, kicked up some sand to get him to crawl out, put the loop behind great and then went to jam my hand over the end of the rod to stop him working free, but wasnt quick enough and bang he went deep in the cave :s Need more practice, practice, practice, but not bad overall, and interesting dive anyways.

jumped over the other day for my fisrt dive with all my new gear since the accident but need some more weight as i was having trouble holding bottom.

great way to search ground and experience weightlessness.

a cray or two is a bonus

Yeah, I coulda done with

Yeah, I coulda done with another weight on the belt (all air out of bcd and breathe out and i was only just sinking), but could just stay on the bottom for the crays (or wedge in a ledge), but coulda done with a bit more.

Well done Till and Matt, gotta be happy with that bag. Have to seriously think about getting my dive ticket when I return to the big smoke in 2011.

Could be the go, I kind of wave them goodbye after they leave the shallow areas, my boat is a bit shrimpy for out there unattended.
