Todays Report out wide

Hi all went out wide today of hilarys in search of the metro marlin to no availe but had a good day on the blue anyway . Got 6 blue fin on the troll on the way out all around 4kgs then had 4 rods go off and my missus got a 6kg ripper on a small rod which was a good fight dropped somethin large which gave the torium 50 a good work out. On the way back found the furuno fad which had massive schools of good size mahi mahi which sent the boat into a mess with lures and plastics going everywhere tryin everything and they would follow them right up to the boat suss whatever we had going and swim off very stressful is live baiting the best way for them because they where not hittin anything . All in all good day little choppy but good to be out there

Sounds like a good day out . Even better if the missus gets a good fish (top brownie points). Looks like a decent size boat you have there?

Troll Rictor Jelly Babes in pink or green. They love em. Or stop and cast small poppers at the FAD.

livies

If they're shut down on plastic (of any type), try cubing, if not cubing then livies are the go.  No livie action then you pretty much aren't going to get them on anything.  Key to dolly fishing I reckon is be the first person there before they spook.

Drift baiting

Fri, 2011-02-18 11:54

I was out there yesterday with a few mates and we used hole mulie and squid on snelled hooks, drift baited down the column and cleaned up. All fish being around 2-5kg though, mind you we were out there by 6am which probably, like adam said, spooked them.
