Chasing an electrician to put in a new RCD switch and run some cabling through the roof to a junction box near the kitchen.
Need it asap, will pay cash.

Prompt payment terms - good for cashflow
A good business person just offering another business person easy payment, no merchant fees, no bank fees.
Good old fashioned cash.

Not reporting cash income at tax time - that's another matter.

Electrical work not done without correct paperwork to western power and under a contractors licence is illegal..

Cash and beers will still get
Cash and beers will still get most trades done for you at a decent discount.. but some electrical, mostly RCDs etc have regulations and require paperwork to be signed off under a contractors ticket and the fines are too rediculous to risk not doing them on the books.
That being said there was no mention of it actualy being an off the books job and theres plenty of contractors who will still do it on the books for cash.
