Towing weight questions. (Caravan)

 Hi all

Im a little confussed on towing weights does the 2900kg axle load capacity mean anything? 

They way im reading the compliance plate you can add 475kgs to the van is this correct?

That 2900kg figure would be from when the van was manufactured

 If water tanks have been added and other bits n pieces since, you mightn't have much room left to play with and could be overweight when the van is fully packed. Then there's the weight on the ball to consider, so even weight distribution is critical too.

There are some good websites that explain the whole ATM, GVM etc scenario, so Google is your friend there

 ATM is you max trailer weight. =2477kg

Tare is your empty weight as determined at time of licencing. = 2007kg

So in theory you can carry 470kg of gear or added accesories.

The axel group may be 2900kg for load sharing/or derating reasons but you max weight is 2477kg.

Your max trailer weight is 2477kg but 173kg of that must be on the tow ball hitch/car.

The GTM (Max weight through the wheels/tyres) when connected to the car is 2305kg.
