Trailcraft fuel hoses and tank

I've just pulled up the fuel tank cover to have a look. The fuel lines look good but I think it might be a good idea to replace them anyway. Was wondering is there anywhere I can take it to get fuel hoses replaced, tank drained and cover riveted back on? I don't really have time or the tools to do myself and don't want to stuff it up.

easy job if you can borrow

easy job if you can borrow the big riveter, as I did my own one.

Otherwise I guess (you havent said where you are) take it to that place in Fremantle where they sell the Trailcrafts
You'll probably get rivetted with the price but they should be able to do it.

i just used stainless screws and sikaflex to reseal lid, i ended up getting my hoses from a hose joint in wangara (cant remember name) its deadset a 30min job. what i did do was leave cover off for a few weeks to check for leaks and do a final tighten of the hose clamps

should be able to get hose at

should be able to get hose at any of the marine places or in Freo ACM?
The riveter, when I did mine the size of the rivets needed one of the bigger concertina type riveters as the rivets were about 5mm blind stainless.
Clean it up good, wipe with meths, plenty sika

Worth doing

Sat, 2016-02-20 22:32

When I pulled mine out and cleaned it there was a heap of aluminium swarf in there from when the fuel sender was originally installed, piss poor IMO.

I removed the last bit of fuel and then hosed it out. A few hours in the sun dried it thoroughly before I reinstalled it.

 Whatever you do .... never

Whatever you do .... never use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the loose debris at the bottom of the tank after draining.

I am not saying you would anyway, but some people would find it tempting and the consequences could be deadly.

Fuel vapour is far more dangerous than the liquid fuel itself !!
