Trailer Bearings

Hi All
Does anyone know the types of bearing (holden or ford) that Trailcraft trailers run (its a twin square axle 2005 trailer with a 6.4m Trailblazersitting on it) ?? Want to change them but want to get them beforehand .
Cheers

Trailerparts
Mate if you go to Trailerparts, tell them your axle size eg 50mm square, they will be able to sort you out

even better
if you remove the original bearings, clean them up, and then take them to a trailer parts or bearing shop (CBC or statewide bearings). then they can check the part numbers, or correctly size the old ones.
i know you want to get them beforehand, but at least this way, you can guarantee you'll only be doin the one trip to the shop.

yeah there are too many
yeah there are too many sorts out there including slimlines that suit a ford hub .. (they are the high pressure ones) so you are going to have to get the numbers off the side of the bearing ... just pop off the dust covers or bearing buddies and write it down.

Axel sizes wont mean much.
Axel sizes wont mean much. It depends on what bearings the ends have been machined to take.
As mentioned before. Take a hub off and record the bearing numbers on the sides of the bearings. Then pay a visit to a bearing or trailer parts retailer.
Avoid cheap bearings....... Go for timkin if you have a choice, or any other reputable brand.

mate measure tip to tip
mate measure tip to tip across your stud pattern like u do them up measure from center to center on two studs then take that measurement with you and they can determine holden/ford hubs are slighlty bigger on the fords

get both
or you could buy both Ford and Holden sets and return the set you didn't need.

Thanks for the help
Have done heaps of bearing changes before , but as its first change on this trailer was wondering if anyone had same trailer to save me hassle of taking everything off to find out what they are.

you cant work it out that way
you cant find out what bearings you have got by measuring your hubs because you can get ht or hq or commodore hubs that run ford slimline bearings or vice versa the only way to tell is to take them out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think you missed the point
read my comment a bit closer there are 2 many variations of bearing types to go on by just measuring the hub for example just because you have a ford doesnt always mean you have ford slimline bearings behind it you may have holden bearings that is what im trying to say ring trailer parts and ask them if you dont believe me its got nothing to do with racing

They are out there mate. I
They are out there mate. I had that set up on my dinghy trailer. Was trying to keep HQ rims on all 3 of my trailers to keep the number of required spares down. Axle on the dinghy suited Ford bearings so picked up hubs to suit HQ with Ford bearings from Supercheap.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Have to agree with dodgy...
and have the same broblem with different bearings on different trailers.
The boat trailer has HQ rims with Ford bearings and the box trailer has HQ rims with Holden bearings.
Can remember being told years ago that the size and shape of the axle determines the type of bearing. (As Rick mentioned)
From memory something along the lines of:
39mm Round and 40mm Square axles = Holden bearings
45mm Square axle = Ford slimline bearings.
Don't hold me to it as being gospel as there could be other axles made elsewhere other than trailer fabricators and parts suppliers that do not follow a standard.
As most have said "Get ya hands dirty and check the existing bearing numbers"

Martin's Trailer Parts
Almost certain it was from martins trailer parts that I was told about the axle size etc. Experience is the best way to learn. Have been in the mechanical trade (not automotive) for 30+ years and still learning the hard way at times.
PS Stilly.... Not having a go at you either

Trailer Bearings
Stilly,
They are all standard hubs. Don't want to sound like a smart a$$ but if you have a look at the links below I don't like your chances of winning lotto
Galvinised hubs
For example click on the following ranges:
FH150G Range - Ford hubs with holden bearings
CDF150G - Commodore rims with ford bearings
HTF150G - HT Holden hubs with ford bearings
Bearings
BK32 Set - Holden bearings suit 39mm round and 40mm square axles.
BK35 Set - Ford bearings suit 45mm square axles.
