transducer placement help part 2
Submitted by Ranz on Sun, 2015-08-30 09:03
Okay based on advice from the original thread plan is to drop transom mount transducer lower and move left or right as after checking I think its to close to the strake. Blue tape in picture shows strake locations. The right one goes to the back of the hull the left one stops 1.7 metres short of the transom.
Question is to move transducer left or right? Left is deeper but maybe getting too close to motor? So thinking right. Opinions please

As stated in previous mate,
As stated in previous mate, I put mine in between the strakes where you have the tape marked, this also has the benefit of the step blocking the rooster tail as the 1kw tm is a bulky unit and does throw a lot of spray when placed low in the water.
Here I am...and there you are.

Screw a wood block into the
Screw a wood block into the old holes and use this block to practice new locations before you fill and drill the permanent holes to save making swiss cheese.

Left of rake line
i would go to the left of the bottom rake line possible one third the way , yes you are close to the motor but yo need to eliminate aerated wate and roll on the hull so lower in the water is better on the hull as well as low tower fixings , a splash guard can be put around tranny to stop the rooste tail. iMO

Exactly what just dhu it says
Exactly what just dhu it says works for me. I'd be going inside your bottom strake and as low as you can go. I originally put mine outside of a trim tab cos inside it was deemed 'too close', I got a shit reading on the outside so put it inside the tab where I now get a fantastic reading.
