Hi

This ones mainly to the sponsors,

After my recent success with a hand line and home made popper with the dolphin fish, fishing from the oil rig i work on im keen to get a rod out here and cast some decent poppers. The problem is i have to be able to fit the rod in my bag to put it on the helicopter to get it to work.

I have found this rod, but it isnt sold in Australia, well it might be but i cant find it anywhere.

If you guys can supply me with this rod or something similar please let me know, otherwise Ill have to send my cash over to the poms and id rather keep it here in aus if possible.

Ill be using 15kg line with probably something in the region of 40 - 50kg leader so i can skull drag the fish the 100 foot air gap from the water up to the main deck of the rig.

Anyway any help will be greatly appreciated,

Kane

at bcf they have afew 4 piece rods which come with a carry case. buti think there only light stuff (about 2-5kg rods.) there is shimano raiders, just the rods and pfluger combos. then ovcoarse there is telescopic rods which get heavyer, but not near 15kg

all the woodside rigs i go on check you for rods and fishing gear - in fact pretty much your entire luggage. And besides, once I put my tools in I struggle to keep under the 10kg limit which is a bummer....

No dramas getting pretty much anything on or off the rig, as long as it fits on your bag and isnt explosive.

Besides, over here, white man = boss. You can get away with alot more than in Aus, Im sure you know as well as I do Woodside are a terrible pain in the arse at the best of times anyway! haha

Hi Roger, Yep you guys are

Hi Roger,

Yep you guys are spoilt for choice in the UK as far as travel rods go,

Ive been seaching online in aus for something but most of them are very lightweight. Far too light for what i need. I have ended up buying the one listed on ebay just a minute ago. It should do what i need it to perfectly. (hopefully)

While searching i did as you say find a whole load of them all funnily enough in the UK?

Mainly posting to give the local tackle shops a bit of a chance before i spent my money overseas.
