trim tabs for a 660

oi,

the old man wants trim tabs put on his 660 trailblazer.

does anyone know of any brands that need to be either avoided or recomended?

also, I was happy to fit them for him, but he'd prefer if it was done professionally, so am i right presuming that any marine mechanic will do them, and how much will it cost?

cheers

If you dive, you will really

If you dive, you will really like the QL tabs. No sharp crap to stick out, and they seem pretty reliable as well.

havent got any prices as of yet, but i know that they are anywhere in the ballpark of $800 - $1100 for supply ( for a 6m+ boat ), then plus fitting.

The ql is the best option.

The ql is the best option. Especially as the ladder on the 660 or any trailcraft for that matter gets in the way. Helped sort and fit them to my neighbours 660 and the best thing he has ever done he says.

Ql tabs

Scott  i have the QL tabs on my 610 , and also had the same on my 5.7  the 300 mm ql fit nicely inside the ladder as Rod sad but you need toget the size for your rig which may be the 400mm in length ,  they make a great deal of difference to your trim and ride especialy in a cross wind ,  i found the easiest way to install them was cut in two weather proof hatches in the deck to give cable and fitting access ,  if you need any info let me know

Trim tabs

Sun, 2012-03-18 18:08

Hi Scott,

I brought Bennett Sport 120 tabs for my 6.3m sportfish platey on ebay from nothern marine in the US.they are the batwing design that give extra 30% lift.My boat has self draining deck with marlin boards either side of the half pod. I had to cut two 150mm inspection ports in each corner of the floor to gain access to secure tabs to the transom and allow hydraulic lines from the tabs to the pump.I did all of the fitting myself. makes one hell of a difference to the ride. Total cost landed in Sydney $670.00 Check out ebay.com / boat trim tabs. Takes 4 weeks to arrive. The standard rams are 300mm in length which I have. and you can order them with 280mm or 330mm at the same cost.

Reguards, Jim

Well,

I went with the QL's, and got a set of 300 long delivered from the US, for a bit over $900 aus.

Piece of piss to install, only drama was the length of one of the tabs cables was a stretch to get it to the control unit, but made it just. Had to also bend 1 rung on the ladder so it would fit, but no drama.

Sea trialled it over Easter, and I am literally gob-smacked at the difference they make. 4 adults on one side, 1 on the other, and the one tab set to halfway trim, leveled out the boat perfectly, even with a good strength cross-wind working against the trim.

I wanted to see how much lift they exert, so fully extended one of them, and near on threw everyone to the opposite side of the boat a second later.

Not only would I recommend them, but I reckon you'd pay three times as much for the performance they put out, and still be happy.
