Trout fishing W.A

Guys

I would really like to get into the trout here in W.A and am on the search for somewhere to go. Having previously fished Victoria. Eildon, Kiewa valley, Goulbourn river etc. I have been reading about different spots on the net and have read that Wahroona dam, Murray river and Warrens river. It has also pointed me towards Serpertine river. Is there anywhere close to Perth I can go without going to a farm? Is Serpentine River even a spot to go?

I do know that the season is closed at the moment.

The Pemberton area is probably the best known for WA trout fishing.
Have a look at this website http://www.watfaa.iinet.net.au/watfaa.html

If you want to have some

If you want to have some fun. Itll never be river.

Go down to Golden Ponds with ya mates, pay $10. Take a black foam dry fly.

Have a laugh and some fun.  Buy some floating pellets.

Chuck half a handfull of pellets in the water then everyone casts,  bets on first to hook up.  Careful you dont hook a Perch or a Black Bream.

Youll get your cast timing back under pressure while ducking trees.   Great practice.

Pressured fish are educated fish.   These are pressured fish.

Waroona dam/lake navarino is or has been stocked with trout  its not that far from serpentine dam .The murry river  near dwellinup, around lane pool reserve would be worth a try.

just a heads up

- you will need a freshwater fishing license ($26 at the moment until the new system comes in mid Sept when it will be $45)

- the rivers (ie Blackwood, Donnelly, Murray, Warren) are all open season for trout all year round, its just the stocked dams like Harvey and Waroona that have closed seasons. the dams are all artificial lures and no bait fisheries also.

Thanks for that yeah got the license on friday. Even the Paperwork for freshwater fishing says the serpentine river above the falls area? There seems to be a lot saying that the river is a stocked area?
