In April will venturing to the Abrohlos on a charter 1st time.
I would love to catch new species for myself and only just realised that tuna maybe an option. Is that possible ?
If so will halco 190's work as that is about it for surface lures in my kit at present?
For you fellas that know does baldchin groper keep well frozen , having not tasted much southern fish i would like to know the preferred fish to keep on this type of trip. EG pink snapper dhuie or whatever ? Fillets only i have to travel by air.
!0 kgs is maximum allowed and fair enough, at $ 250 per kilo i would like to take at least a taste home.

if your going to freeze the
if your going to freeze the fish, do yourself a favour and when filleted , do not wash off. freeze the fillets as they are and when you defrost and ready to prepare the fish, then wash them off. trust me they do taste much better.
good luck with your trip. would be great over there fishing

Further to Russ and Sandy I
Further to Russ and Sandy I always grab a bucket of (clean) salt water before getting back to the ramp and rinse any fillets in this, quick dab with some towelling paper to remove any excess and then wrap and freeze - rinsing them in fresh water kills the flavour and they taste mush better washed in salt water. - another way of going about it I guess

Halco 190s
Also, to answer your first question. Your halco 190s will definately catch tuna no problems but would be well worth grabbing a couple of pushers such as the Richter soft grassy particularly if the tuna are on the surface.
