I have a FCV 620 is it worth getting a matching box and 1kw tranny?? Or do i bite the bullet and upgrade, either to a 588 or the simrad s2009.

Matching box
you can run a compatible 1kw Tranny without a matching box on a 620 but the head unit is only 600w, you will get a better reading with the 1kw Tranny over a 600w but to take full advantage of the 1kw the 588 would be better.
hope that made sense.
Cheers

As above
Info above is correct. 620 works well with a 1kw
You only need the matching box when wiring up non diplexed transducers like the bare wire commercial units

You will get 90 percent of
You will get 90 percent of the benefit from running the 1kw tranny on the 620. I almost never run more than 600 W gain on my old 587 even in deep drop, so the 1 kW. Output is a bit of a. Lot point.
