Ford Australia have given approval for DJR Penske and Tickford Racing to race the new V8 Mustangs in Supercars next year. Yee Haarr.

I'm guessing the Penske boys have been shaken up by the new commodore lower centre of gravity. Rather than re-engineer everything for a model that no longer exists (FGX) they have turned to the Mustang. Ludo would be salivating to use Penske money on his new project!
Can only hope Nissan recommits to Supercars and gets the homologation of the GTR going soon.
Only trouble then is it all looks the same as the GT4 category cars so why would manufaxturers want to spend money doing both?
Lots to look forward to and see how the category keeps itself relevant.
