not telling you to suck eggs
but, have you checked the emergency switch. My 80 lt has a red switch with 3 settings. if you have trouble with the fridge, you can set it to emergency and that will keep the fridge at the lowest possible setting. Just a thought.

If you're handy with
If you're handy with electronics then it's relatively easy to install a new thermistor. The actual part is a 10k ohm NTC thermistor. You can buy them at Jaycar for a couple of dollars:
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=RN3440
Open up the compressor section and find the pair of black wires that go from the circuit board into the foam that surrounds the fridge compartment. These black wires lead to the thermistor. (The pair of white wires go to the light bulb). Then you can either cut away the foam to reveal the old thermistor and replace it, or you can do like this guy and route the new thermistor through the light socket to the inside of the fridge.

I followed these steps on mine and got it working again.

Any suggestions on one that runs on 240 but not 12v
Works perfectly off mains power but utterly dead on 12volts - have doubled checked the cable and it is indeed supplying power ??

The only thing I can think of
The only thing I can think of is you have the 12V socket wired the wrong way around or there might be a fuse inside the fridge that has blown. I'm not sure.

Replace the thermo stat, easy
Replace the thermo stat, easy fix, dont bother about taking the old one out, just install a new one, and cut the wires on the old one,, and leave it in. Digging through the foam is annoying, but other than that its cheaper than to get someone to fix it for you.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.

It's supposed to be 10k at 25
It's supposed to be 10k at 25 degrees and about 30k at 0 degrees. Maybe cool the fridge down and then check the reading. It could be that the thermistor has fallen away from it's mounting and is not reading the fridge temperature properly.
