commodores are better for

Tue, 2009-09-22 21:41

commodores are better for resale and drive more muscle like ..... falcons are crap for resale but are much "smoother" on the road  ....

its a little like the stella - saltiga fight :P

ive had both and for long hauls the falcon is much smoother ... but i liked to drive the commodore hard around town :)

fixing parts

Wed, 2009-09-23 08:04

If you don't have enough to do around home and working on the boat, buy a ford because you will always have something to fix then!!!!!Had an xf ute and there was nothing but minor little problems that had to be fixed all the time. Door handles fuel tank gaskets etc etc.....

The missus has had a VX wagon since new. Best car we have ever owned.

Never missed a beat to date.

Kids trash it and she keeps going.

She loves it.............

wagons

having owned both the wagons i would say the commodore is nicer to drive, the falcon feels like a barge, the ride is softer in the falcon but they feel a bit floaty on the road.
the commodore feels a bit more connected without being uncomfortable and is better on fuel
also the commodore looks better but thats just my opinion

cheers

Ask a taxi driver and they

Wed, 2009-09-23 14:09

Ask a taxi driver and they will say about 800000K.

I seriously was in a BF taxi in Melbourne a month ago and it had 650K on it!!!! Couldn't have been more than 2 years old. Was running well too. I did the math and if he changed the oil every 10K he was doing it every 16 days.

i drove a vx wagon to

Wed, 2009-09-23 20:18

i drove a vx wagon to mandurah and back last weekend and it went alright, fair amount of power in them, which is good if you decide you have too much tread on your tyres and need to get rid of some if u know what i mean hahaha.

pretty comfortable inside as well, very smooth on the road.

dunno if that helps though

your best bet is listen to

Thu, 2009-09-24 05:23

your best bet is listen to what everyone tells you then forget all about it. go out and give several cars a test drive , not just one as you can drive 2 cars of the same model but they can drive a bit differently, spend the day cruising from car yard to car yard test driving and pissing off the salesmen and pick the hardest cars to get out. there are plenty of options out there and you might not go with ford or holden you might end up with a VOLVO . either way choose carefully as there is lemons out there

Commodore

Thu, 2009-09-24 07:39

We have had our commodore wagon for 8 yrs it is 1997 Esteem.  It has done nearly two hundred thousand and it is great.  It has towed our camper and the boat on the odd occasion when the old 4x4 has been out of action.

Plenty of room for the kids and dog.  When the kids were younger and in their baby seats we could fit three baby seats accros the back  and be able to shut the doors.  So when the boys cousin came for a ride she could fit.  Smaller cars struggle with that.

We had it gas converted a couple of years ago and I think the encomony is good for the power of the motor.  As the Faulkners have said take a few for a run and then make your decision.

We are Holden Commodore and Toyota 4x4 family. It is what we grew up with and it is what we know.Smile
