walpole query

hi guys,
I have done quite a few searches and read lots of great reports and seen lots of pics about walpole - but I have just one query about boat access. I have been up and around the Walpole and Nornalup inlets a few times, but only in a small dinghy or on a jet ski. I am hoping to be there in a few weeks, for the long wknd, and was hoping to bring our 5m trailcraft to chase some bream. do you guys think I will have issues with getting up and around the rivers and through the inlets in it??
If anyone has any thoughts or tips it would be appreciated.
feel free to PM me your secret spots if you dont want to post them on the page - haha!! :)
cheers,
Scott

That boat will be fine mate,
That boat will be fine mate, the channel out can be tricky in any size boat and you will obviously be restricted to how far upstream you can reach but you'll find fish within your limits. Best off get a chart of the inlets to show where the shallow stuff is. Most of Nornalup inlet isn't too bad but the Walpole inlet has lots of shallow ground and you need to stick to the channels.
Good luck & happy fishing down there, great spot!

no probs
2 or 3 years ago i took my 4.75 quinny down there for a week, most of the inlet sounded between 1 and 2 metres except the channel which was 3-5 metres. In the channel i picked up a heap of king george around 40cm mark.
There are two types of people ,do'ers and watchers
Right now the do'ers are the doing it
And the watchers are watching us do it

Scott you'll be finnnne with
Scott you'll be finnnne with a 5m Trailey! If unsure in the rivers just stick to the outside corners where the deeper water will be but as Joodles says if you have charts on your gps they should give you a bit of help. The mouth of the inlet out to the ocean can be a bit fun on a low tide, when I was down there in Jan we ran aground many times lol.

I will have to try my best to avoid running aground, but i think the pointers you've given should lead to a good weekend.
Thanks, Scott

Hey Scott, Heading out
Hey Scott, Heading out through the mouth of the inlet on an incoming tide for the first time will help you identify where the chanel is currently sitting as it tends to change a bit over time. Some great fishing to be had around the mouth in the chanel and also around the Franklin.
