Wanted Evinrude Part

Hi, i have an old 70hp evinrude i believe 1979 model.
I put a new water pump in and when i was attaching the gear shift shaft to the coupling thing the coupling broke so if anyone has an old 70hp evinrude lying around dead i could really use this part.

Evinrude Johnson Online parts catalogue

Click on the blue bar that says view parts catalogue.
In the drop down menu top left click on evinrude-en.
When the years show up select 1979.
There is only one model evinrude 70hp 1979 and you could confirm from the model plate located on the left hand side on the transom bracket. Click on this and it will bring up the menu of assemblies from this engine. I think the part you are looking for will be in Remote Control, look at the image, get number, scroll down in the bottom parts list to get the part number and give Chivers a call.
Edit: Actually more looks like under Cylinder and Crankcase.

Reasonably priced and knows his Johnsons/Evinrudes.
He got the late 70's Johnson on my old boat going again after I changed out the impellor and housing myself but couldn't reconnect the shift linkage without locking up the gears.

Thanks very much for that site it's brilliant.
It looks like the part is in cylinder and crankcase says it's a lever shift rod.
