I was fishing just up and

I was fishing just up and downstream of where the Vasse Hwy crosses the Warren river just a bit south of the King Trout Farm. There are heaps of good looking areas down there. A majority of the places i have been fishing you would easily be able to flick a fly out from (not that much over head bush. I have seen a few good sized brown and caught 3 undersized ones so far but unfortunatly i only use celtas and minnows and i think the bigger brown are to smart to be fooled by them. Might need a fly to fool those buggers.

From Busselton it takes me 1hr 25mins to get to the Vasse Hwy bridge but then there is a maze of other tracks that will take you to more isolated spots.

By the way i am a saltwater fisherman at heart, but after a trip to Victoria last year to visit one of my mates and doing a bit of trout fishing over there with him, i have now added trout/redfin fishing to my seasonal fishing schedule.

Will try to catch up you with when I finally get over early April. Love fly fishing for trout, but got a hell of a lot to learn about the salt. We could be mutually useful. I am quite happy to practice on herring & mullet.

Cheers Dave

Only redfin...

Mon, 2009-11-09 18:45

In my experience of fishing in the warren ive only ever caught redfin using a small Celta spinner in red colour. Mind you i havnt fished there alot because i live in Dardanup near Bunbury its a good 2 and a half hour drive to the warren so i gennerally only get to chuck a line there on the way to pemberton where me and my dad go quite often and stay at big brook dam ( plenty of redfin/trout around there!!! )  mainly trout...
