Warroora Camp Options?

Hey Guys,

Heading up to Warroora and Gnaraloo for the first time at the end of June with the plan to do some land based fishing and surfing.

Site is booked for Gnaraloo but was curious to know peoples favourite locations to camp at Warroora with the best access to good landbased fishing and surf if possible? I have had a look through previous discussions and it looks like the southern half of the station is probably where I should be looking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!!

Where are you going to camp Lisa? Ive only camped at Sandy Point and 14 mile. Plenty of squid and spanglies up north of 14 mile in the tinny inside the reef. And you can fish landbased all the way inbetween the 2 spots for spanglies at dawn and dusk, just make sure its a rising tide for best results.

PM me if you need some more info

If you dont have access to a dingi Stevens is kinda the only landbased surf option ( there are a couple of others but alot more fickle ) however stevens is more of an early/late season wave, doesnt need much swell & the rip is pretty hectic sometimes so be cautious especially if you have kids that will be hitting the water....

Plenty of landbased fishing options, depends what you are after just be careful of sanctuaries as some of them you cant landbased fish in and some you can...

If you camp at the south end and make friends with someone with a boat ( usually not too hard to get a lift to an fro the surf as half the crew with boats travel with the missus and need a hand getting in and out anyway ) that would be the go...

Pretty good waves and plenty fish...

I'm not sure how long ago you were at Sandy/14 mile Woody but get a lot of pressure from the nomad fratenity that packs the place out up there...

If you are going up that way Rosco the camp caretaker takes his job pretty seriously and will not take kindly to you "requesting" specific sites....

It had been windy and i think he had a fair amount of sand in his vag a few weeks ago when we passed through there.....

Apart from that the place is amazing and hopefully a place the public can enjoy in virtually its current state as i hear DPAW are taking over in November....

Once you get past Minilya and hit the Exmouth rd grab some wood, there is shitloads of good stuff if you can load some on somewhere, the station has a no take policy and one last thing is you need a chemical dunny...

Enjoy....
